This is Sussex --
SUSSEX Police are urging people to get together in groups to help them mark property in residents' sheds.
The force is keen to try and access as many of the 60,000 homes in the district as they can, following a spate of thefts from outbuildings.
In Operation Creosote, the police will mark people's property by using metallic pens to tag equipment with a postcode, which is then coated with an acrylic lacquer.
It costs less than 2p per item.
PCSOs can undertake the marking but police want residents to get together so more property can be marked at a single time.
Police say they often have trouble reuniting recovered items with owners.
Tony Wakefield of the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "Recent local surveys have identified that Wealden communities are concerned about burglary and that they would like the police to concentrate on it as a priority. Please help us to beat this crime and keep you and your property safe."
