This is Derbyshire -- A SPECIALIST bike used by disabled youngsters in Derby is one of several police are appealing for help in finding. The bike – a Velo Plus tricycle with a ramp on the front to accommodate a wheelchair – was stolen from a shed in Markeaton Park. Several other bikes belonging to Cycle Derby were taken during the break-in, which happened overnight between January 29 and 30. Some bikes were recovered from a property in Redshaw Street, Derby, but the Velo Plus and others – including two BMX Raptors and five Barracuda 700c bikes – are still outstanding. The blue and silver Velo Plus is a distinct design with two wheels at the front, between which is a large metal plate big enough to hold a wheelchair. It is used by Cycle Derby instructors to help disabled children enjoy bike rides. Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
