Police investigate suspected stabbings in Rowan Street, Newfoundpool, Leicester This is Leicestershire -- Police are investigating two suspected stabbings after being called to reports of a disturbance in a city street. Officers attended the incident in Rowan Street, in Newfoundpool, last night. Three men were arrested at the scene and taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary. A spokesman for the police said that two of them had suffered what are believed to be stab wounds. The third had a fractured rib. "We are investigating reports of a disturbance in Rowan Street, near Fosse Road North," he said. "Officers were called to the scene at about 10.45pm on Saturday. "Three men were arrested and taken to hospital. Two of the men were released after hospital treatment and are currently in police custody." The spokesman added: "One man is being kept in hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening." He said other "named individuals" were being sought by police as part of the investigation. A house in Rowan Street was cordoned off with police tape this morning, with an officer standing guard at the front door throughout the day. A member of the public, who did not want to be named, said: "You could clearly see what looked like blood on the front door – and a puddle of blood on the doorstep." A Newfoundpool resident, who also declined to give their name, said: "I'm not sure what's happening down there but the house had been cordoned off by the police and an officer placed outside the door.""Officers have been coming and going from the property all day." The resident said people living nearby had no inkling of a disturbance taking place at the house last night. "I took my dog for a walk last night and went past the house. "It was quiet and the street very peaceful. "There was no sign of any trouble." The resident said there were quite a few people milling around the scene this morning asking each other what had happened. "Nobody I spoke to heard or saw anything suspicious going on at all." The resident added: "It is rather shocking now I know some people may have been stabbed and badly hurt." Anyone with information which could help police with their investigation is urged to get in touch by dialling the 101 number – or the Crimestoppers hotline on 101. Reported by This is 9 hours ago.
