A MURDER investigation is under way in Yeovil after a woman died on Tuesday night.
Police were called to an incident in the Tudor Court area of Yeovil at around 8.20pm following reports that a woman was being assaulted.
Officers and paramedics attended the disturbance but the woman died at the scene.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and was yesterday being held in custody.
An investigation has begun to establish the circumstances behind the incident.
Police said yesterday they were unable to release the identity of the victim until the next of kin had been notified.
All of Manor Road was blocked off shortly after police arrived at the scene, with the site still cordoned off yesterday morning.
A green tarpaulin was visible outside the flats behind a police cordon.
