This is Cornwall --POLICE in Bude have urged people not to give criminals easy access to their possessions by leaving doors and windows open.
The warm weather has meant people leave open their doors and windows – but thieves are taking advantage.
Officers said thefts from beaches are also a problem.
A police spokesman said: "Even though we may live in a safe area and crime rates are still very low, we have recently had a couple reports of thefts of belongings on the beach.
"If you are heading off into the sea, please do not leave your bags full of expensive belongings unattended, as unfortunately there are opportunist thieves around who will take advantage.
"While we would like everyone to enjoy themselves and have a good time in the better weather, we have also had complaints reported to us about some antisocial behaviour in or around the sea pool.
"The sea pool is a public area there for everyone to enjoy, including families with small children. What they don't want to witness is children and adults swearing and shouting and generally upsetting others.
"Regular patrols will be conducted around the area and people found to be acting in an antisocial manner will be robustly dealt with."
The spokesman said that it can often be tempting to leave windows open when leaving your house, and also to leave front doors and windows open when sunbathing and playing in the back garden.
He added: "A third of burglars enter properties through an open door or window.
"It is also well known that many burglars are opportunist thieves looking for properties that offer them the least risk.
"Please don't make your home an open invitation to a burglar.
