Man seen acting 'suspiciously' in school's grounds PARENTS have been put on alert after a man was spotted acting suspiciously on a school playground. Staff at St Paul's Primary School, in Longton called the police after the man was seen loitering around the building on Monday. He was then escorted from the Byatt's Grove site but he remained in the area. Now mums and dads are being warned to be vigilant when picking up and dropping off their children. The gun used in the seemingly random slaying of a woman on a San Francisco pier belonged to a federal agent, a law enforcement official briefed on the matter said Tuesday.

The official, who was not authorised to speak publicly about the case and spoke on condition of anonymity, said a police check of the weapon’s serial number shows it belonged to a federal agent. The official declined to elaborate further.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at stables in Lordine Lane, Ewhurst Green, near Northiam.
 
It occurred between 6.30pm on Saturday (4 July) and 12.30pm on Sunday, 5 July.

Two horse-drawn jog carts, both of similar design, were stolen. One was a white  two-seat jog cart made of metal, with a seat rail and grey padded seats.
 
The other was red, again a two-seat jog cart made of metal with a new metal footplate and grey padded seats, but without a seating rail.
